Congress Approval Rating Hits All-Time Low In Gallup Poll
One has to wonder what members of Congress think of poll results like this. Do they think they are bullshit numbers drummed up by the media to cause a sensation, or do they think they’re true?
Even if Congress doesn’t think the numbers are 100 percent accurate, doesn’t it seem like the low approval numbers in the polls indicate a real-world low opinion of Congress, even if it isn’t quite that extreme? If I were an elected official, wouldn’t that show me that I and the rest of my gang of politicos are doing something wrong?
Of course, why should they be worried? Opinions of Congress have been low for a long time, but it hasn’t led to a widespread casting-out of veteran legislators.
Their jobs are more or less assured, no matter how bad a job they do because voters know, at the heart of the matter, that these guys have the experience, and we’d rather have experience in office, even when it’s bad experience, because it’s better than a flash-in-the-pan rookie coming in for a single term and doing a bunch of damage.
I dislike politics. /rant
